Train or Taxi to the Airport from Cannock?

Getting to the airport from Cannock usually comes down to two choices: the train or a taxi. Both can work well, and the right one depends on your flight time, your luggage and who you are travelling with.
Taking the train
Cannock and Hednesford stations are on the Chase Line, with trains towards Walsall and Birmingham. Reaching an airport by train from Cannock usually means at least one change, for example into Birmingham and then on to Birmingham International for Birmingham Airport.
The train can suit you if you are travelling light, flying at a convenient time of day and live close to a station.
Taking a taxi
A taxi takes you from your front door straight to the terminal, with no changes and no carrying bags between platforms. It also works at any hour, which matters for early-morning or late-night flights when trains may not be running.
For families and groups, sharing a taxi can also be good value, as one fare covers everyone travelling together.
Which should you choose?
Choose the train if: you are travelling alone with light luggage, your flight is at a convenient time and you live near Cannock or Hednesford station.
Choose a taxi if: you have heavy bags, children or a group; your flight is very early or late; or you simply want a door-to-door journey with no changes.
The best of both
Prefer the train for part of your journey? We can take you to or from the station too. See our Cannock station, Hednesford station and Rugeley Trent Valley station taxi pages.
If a taxi all the way suits you better, we cover Birmingham, Manchester and East Midlands airports, 24 hours a day.
